Description

“Baron Gautsch” was a passenger ship of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy. She was built in 1908 and was named after the Prime minister baron Gautsch. She was the liner on a regular service along the coast between Kotor and Trieste. The ship was 84.5 m long and 12 m wide. On August 13th, 1914 she clashed against an underwater mine (it was at the beginning of the First World War) on her voyage from Koper to Trieste, transporting military families and refugees from southern Adriatic to Italy. The ship sank completely in only 10 minutes.
